Craig Smith

Craig has been a member of the PGA Teaching team at Close House for the past 6 years following the completion of his training via the University of Birmingham PGA Programme. 

Craig has, however, spent the majority of my golfing journey at Close House after joining the club as a junior member back in 2007. Craig very much illustrates our development pathway available at the club,  now making a career from the game he loves. 

Whilst Craig still enjoys competing locally in Professional events, he now spends more time on his personal development as a coach, looking to further learning in all aspects of the game. He relishes the challenge of helping players to maximise their performance, helping golfers to identify, improve on and manage the tendencies within their game. Craig now takes as much joy from seeing clients enjoying their time on the course and learning from positive results as he does from his own performance. 

Outside of Close House, Craig leads the school’s development project for Close House, which offers an introduction to the game for over 1,000 children per year. Alongside junior coaching at the Academy, it is exciting to see the next generation of golfers beginning their golfing journey.
