Close House was ranked among the Top 10 businesses nationally in both the Travel & Leisure sector and Medium Business category, alongside organisations including TaylorMade Golf and England Golf.
We were also one of just five businesses in Newcastle upon Tyne to receive the accolade, which recognises excellence in workplace culture, employee engagement and staff wellbeing.
For us, this recognition is about one thing above all else – our people.
Our 125-strong team is at the heart of everything we do at Close House, from looking after our members and guests to delivering exceptional experiences across our golf, hospitality, accommodation, food and beverage and events operations.
Managing Director Jonathan Lupton said:
“We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work. This achievement is a reflection of the incredible people who make Close House what it is – a passionate and dedicated team committed to delivering exceptional experiences for our members and guests every day.
“What makes this award especially meaningful is that the positive feedback we regularly receive from our members and guests is mirrored internally by our team. That shared sense of pride, support and community is something truly special, and we are incredibly proud to see it recognised on a national stage.
“I would like to thank every member of the team for their hard work and commitment. This recognition belongs to them, and we look forward to continuing to build a workplace where people can thrive.”
We’re proud to have colleagues who have been part of the Close House team for more than 20 years, while continuing to invest in the next generation of talent through fully funded training and development opportunities across culinary, greenkeeping, golf and hospitality.
Our team benefits also include a 25% staff discount, complimentary gym membership, free golf access and long service awards, while our annual black-tie staff awards evening gives us the chance to celebrate the people who make Close House what it is.
From hosting the British Masters in 2017 and 2020 to welcoming thousands of members, guests and visitors every year, our team is what brings the Close House experience to life.
We’re incredibly proud to see their hard work recognised on a national stage.
