Close House was proud to once again host the prestigious Have a Heart Charity Golf Day in 2026, welcoming more than 200 guests to our North East golf club in support of the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation.
Since its launch in 2011, Have a Heart has grown into one of the North East’s leading charity golf events, raising vital funds for the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation. The Foundation supports disadvantaged children and young people across the region through education, opportunity and community initiatives.
The 2026 Have a Heart Charity Golf Day brought together an impressive mix of sporting legends, entertainers, business leaders and guests for a memorable day of golf, fundraising and entertainment. Alan Shearer, Rick Shiels, Brian McFadden, Les Ferdinand and a host of Newcastle United players were among the familiar faces in attendance, continuing the event’s tradition of bringing together high-profile guests for an important cause.
Hosted across Close House’s championship Lee Westwood Colt and Filly Courses, players competed on a hybrid course layout while enjoying a day of friendly competition and fundraising. The event provided the perfect setting to bring people together and raise awareness and vital funds for the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation’s work across the North East.
After an excellent day on the courses, it was the team of Steve Walton, Max Walton, Peter Joynson and Henry Joynson who claimed victory, recording an impressive Texas Scramble score of 19 under par.
In total, the 2026 Have a Heart Charity Golf Day raised more than £55,000 for the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation – an incredible achievement and a testament to the generosity of everyone involved.
Close House would like to thank all of the players, sponsors, partners, guests and everyone who helped make the 2026 event such a success.
Have a Heart continues to showcase what can be achieved when sport, business and the wider North East community come together for a great cause. As a long-standing host of charity golf days in Newcastle and the North East, Close House is proud to play its part in delivering memorable events that make a meaningful difference.
