From upgrading our buggy fleet and transforming the Golf Shop to completing the next phase of bunker improvements on the Colt Course, each project forms part of our ongoing commitment to developing our facilities and maintaining the high standards you expect from Close House.
This exciting project will transform the current space, creating a modern, welcoming environment while doubling the size of the existing shop and reception area. The extension will significantly increase the available floor space by incorporating part of the neighbouring British Masters Suite, allowing us to enhance both the range of products and the overall customer experience. The British Masters Suite will continue to operate as normal following the refurbishment, albeit with a reduced capacity, changing from accommodating 32 people to 16.
Investing in Your Experience
This development is one we are particularly excited to move forward with, especially as feedback from member surveys over recent years has consistently highlighted a desire for a larger golf shop with a broader range of brands and products.
The expanded space will allow us to:
We believe this investment will be a fantastic addition to our golf offering and another step forward in continually improving the facilities available at Close House.
We hope the accompanying images help illustrate the exciting transformation that is planned, and we look forward to sharing further updates with you as the project progresses.
Investing in Our Buggy Fleet
As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the golfing experience for our members and guests, we are continuing to make significant investments in our buggy fleet.
Earlier this year, we increased the number of buggies available at Close House to 40 vehicles, helping to improve availability and ensuring that more members and guests can access a buggy when required.
The next exciting phase of this investment programme will take place on 12th October, when every buggy in the fleet will be upgraded with the latest ONYX Super Wide Screen GPS system. These state-of-the-art units feature an impressive 12-inch ultra-wide display with a 12:9 aspect ratio, delivering sharp, crystal-clear imagery that sets a new benchmark for visual performance on the golf course. The enhanced screens will provide golfers with a more engaging and informative experience throughout their round.
Members and guests will also benefit from a range of new features, including:
In addition to enhancing the player experience, the new technology will provide the club with greater operational control than our previous GPS system. The upgraded platform allows us to introduce speed management controls in selected areas of the estate, helping to improve buggy safety where additional caution may be required. This will enable us to better protect both golfers and the golf course while ensuring a safer environment for everyone.
We are excited to introduce this latest technology and look forward to members experiencing the benefits of what is one of the most advanced golf buggy systems currently available. This investment represents another step forward in our commitment to continually enhancing the Close House golfing experience, both on and off the course.
Following the successful refurbishment of the majority of our greenside bunkers last winter, we will be returning this October to complete the remaining five bunkers as part of our ongoing bunker improvement programme on the Colt Course.
The final phase of work will focus on the greenside bunkers on holes 3, 5 and 16, bringing these areas up to the same high standard as those completed previously. The project will involve the removal of the existing sand, improvements to the drainage systems where required, and the installation of the CapillaryFlow bunker liner system, renowned for its durability, drainage performance, and ability to maintain consistent playing conditions.
Once the liners have been installed, each bunker will be topped up with fresh sand to provide improved playability, greater consistency, and enhanced resilience throughout the year.
We anticipate completing the work with minimal disruption to play during the winter months and would like to thank all members in advance for their patience and understanding while these important improvements are carried out.
The completion of this programme will represent a significant milestone in our ongoing investment in the Colt Course, helping to ensure that our bunkers remain in excellent condition and continue to provide a high-quality playing experience for years to come.
